My os crashed. I have been a t.bird user for years. Luckilly took a backup file .thunderbird on flashdrive very recntly. new zorin loaded and comes with t.bird installed. i have no password. i have not yet done anything and ask for step by step help i have opened t.bird abd it asks for email and password. i did not enter anything

When I receive a newsletter from my club, it doesn't show the pictures. It does describe the picture and warns it might be AI generated. If I reply to the email or forward it, the pictures are displayed. I suspect this might be a settings problem. The original email includes:

Can anyone shed some light on this?

As of today (6th Jan '26) TB claims there are no new emails. This is incorrect, they are there on Gmail, and have appeared on my iphone. Can't find any way of getting TB to play nicely with Gmail, any suggestions for a work round gratefully received.

Thunderbird solutions don,'t give answers just the problems people are having it's so frustrating all I want is either a password reminder or reset , simple you may think but no Thunderbird make it difficult to contact and many just like me are going around in circles, please send me a reset via my e mail [edited email from community support forum] I've got my fingers crossed!!

Hello. My name is Chris Bottle and I live in Australia. In the last couple of days I've discovered that I'm unable to send emails. I've checked my IMAP settings are they are all correct. My email provider is Telstra Australia. When I send an email I get a reply back "An error occured while sending email. Outgoing server SMTP error. The server responded; Connection refused - OB119 .103.224.52.151 is blacklisted in Abusix Mail Intelligence and then two lines of text prefixed by https;/lookup.abusix and further text. I checked with Telstra and after much checking they could find nothing their end. I'm not that computer literate and freely admit that this problem has bamboozled me. Discovered no mail download ( auto or manual) into tbird fm Jan1st, ( 146 updated mid Dec)

As others already reported eventually determined due some interaction with email virus checker (AVG) HoweverTbird not useful or helpful in providing to user any indication of problem or providing failure info.

Issue showed as 'Get email' not doing/showing anything - not showing pop3 login+download steps or anything else.. - saw one timeout popup wdw but usually nothing..

Error console showed an error message that "pop3 socket closed will not send info".... fine sfaigoes but have to go look for it.

Downgrade tbird version (145) even tho 146 working for 2 weeks before stopped) - same issue/problem (as per error log)

Direct access to server showed server end closing socket due multiple concurrent sockets open, indicating tbird and AVG.. reset AVG and reboot and restart and (145) now loading but....

Issue is that tbird should be presenting some failure indication to the user on socket connection failure ( wdw popup or message line status - where shows 'making connection";, "login, ...It doesnt show anything... so silent failure.... Just doesnt work ...

Unrelated but should also mention that error console display of 146 prior to above 'pop socket close' msg also shows failure of verification of a tbird extn due missing manifest file... There was only one extn in the extensions dir so Its that one (supplied with 146 installation) - clearly named with a random collection of alphanumeric and hyphen chars...

I have installed Thunderbird with Zorin 18 and it won't show contacts. Google says that Thunderbird has full access to contacts. Attempt to manually add contacts fails with message of "Can't connect to server". I did have to manually add the calendar to make that part work. Is this an uninstall and reinstall (Thunderbird that is) situation?

A small proportion of my sent emails are not appearing in my sent folder I use a Gmail account via IMAP. ⁠I've checked my account settings, and the sent folder is checked correctly.

Been getting a bunch of this, usually in my TB TRASH folder, I think from the Outlook online server.

The server couldn't retrieve the following message:

Subject: "<Removed for PII>"

From: "Not available" ("Not available")

Sent date: 10/31/2024 2:25:02 PM

The message hasn't been deleted. You might be able to view it using either Outlook or Outlook Web App. You can also contact the sender to find out what the message says.

I have 2 personal email accounts: Outlook and Gmail. My client is Thunderbird. Running Win11 25H2. Far as I know, problem began recently. This is a screenshot of some messages from TBirds TRASH folder.

User's image (In images) Thunderbird just tried to fetch emails. Got a notification that it could not get messages, this time from GMail.

What does this mean? Outlook/Gmail servers or Thunderbird? What do I need to do?

I have a laptop that updated itself and is now updated to the latest version of Thunderbird. Desktop computer is still on v.115. I have the Local Folders on the laptop set to use a shared folder on the desktop and locally store incoming emails on the laptop. I use the shared folder for archiving emails on the desktop. So LaptopMail is stored on D:\LocalMail on the laptop and the Local Folders is set to store files on the desktop through the private local network on a shared folder (D:\Mail-Common on the desktop hard drive) Up until today this worked almost flawlessly. When things do go sideways on an update (which happens with thunderbird more than I like) I ususally search for an answer first. Normally, I find an answer that works.

The problem is exactly as was in this post [ https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1512216#search ] The fix however didn't work for me. I cannot directly edit the Local Directory path either. The browse button still works though. Currently, D:\Mail-Common is mapped to the "N:" drive and all that is in the Local Directory path in the Local Folders settings is N:

I logged in to Thunderbird the other day and none of my stored folders were displayed. I logged in to my Virgin Media Email and they were all there. About 9 months ago I had a similar problem and it was resolved using my Thunderbird backup and help from yourselves. I cannot get this to work this time. Firstly I would be keen to know why the stored folders have suddenly not loaded when I start Thunderbird. Secondly is there an easy way to get the folders downloaded from Virgin Media rather than trying to use my backup? Thanks.

I received an email stating that I wanted to create a new account. Not so ,not sure how someone was able to so this. Not sure which email I am supposed to sign in at. Bit I have had it for over 10 years. But never had to sign in. So I do not wnat my emails to be deleted, so how do we fix this. I also have donated to Mozilla over the years. I enjoy having it. So where do we go from here

Hello! Thunderbird keeps asking me for my password but it won't accept it. (My provider does accept it: the provider is BT - British Telecom.) Frequently I can't send email, when it does try to send it it takes ages: sometimes it sends, sometimes it won't. It's driving me bonkers! Can anyone help please?

emails over 5 days old are deleted: -Hi i had trouble with outlook so changed to thunderbird for two email accounts i have. both are IMAP. one account works fine , old emails are stored asa re deleted and sent, however for my main (business) email, if i turn the computer off, i basically loose anything older than 5 days. i have the settings set to do not delete, but it keeps happening. sent items are kept, as are deleted emails, so i cant understand what is going on. the account also clears the server so i cant bring them back from there either. any ideas? if it keeps like this i will have to go back to outlook.
